Pre-Care Instructions for Laser Hair Removal:

1. Avoid Sun Exposure:

Stay out of direct sunlight and avoid tanning beds for at least 2 weeks before your treatment. If you need to be outside, apply a broad-spectrum SPF 30+ sunscreen regularly.

2. Shave the Treatment Area:

Shave the treatment area the night before or day before your appointment. You know your body best! We need to be able to see stubble in the area. If you're uncertain, it is better to arrive with hair that is too long as opposed to too short, as we can always trim it in office. Do not wax, pluck, or use hair removal creams, as the hair follicle needs to be intact for laser treatment.

3. Skip Self-Tanners:

Avoid using self-tanning lotions or sprays for at least 2 weeks before your appointment.

4. Discontinue Retinoids and Exfoliants:

Stop using retinoids, exfoliants, and alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) on the treatment area for at least 5-7 days prior to your session, as they can make your skin more sensitive.

5. No Makeup, Lotions, or Deodorant:

On the day of your treatment, arrive with clean skin. Avoid applying makeup, lotion, deodorant, or any other topical products on the treatment area.

6. Avoid Antibiotics and Photosensitizing Medications:

If you are taking antibiotics or other medications that can make your skin more sensitive to light, let us know. You may need to wait 1-2 weeks after finishing them before proceeding with laser treatment.

7. Hydration:

Stay well-hydrated before your treatment, as this can enhance your skin’s response to the laser.

Post-Care Instructions for Laser Hair Removal:

1. Avoid Sun Exposure:

After treatment, avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for at least 2 weeks. Always wear SPF 30+ on the treated area if you’re going outdoors.

2. Cool Compresses for Comfort:

You may experience some redness or swelling after your treatment. Apply a cool compress or ice pack to the area to soothe irritation.

3. No Hot Showers, Saunas, or Exercise:

For the first 24-48 hours, avoid hot showers, saunas, or any activities that may cause excessive sweating, as this could irritate the treated area.

4. Do Not Exfoliate or Scrub:

Be gentle with your skin. Avoid scrubbing, exfoliating, or using loofahs on the treated area for at least 5-7 days post-treatment.

5. No Waxing or Plucking:

Do not wax, pluck, or use hair removal creams between treatments. Shaving is fine, but other methods could interfere with the laser’s effectiveness.

6. Shedding of Hair:

Hair may seem to “grow” in the treated area after the session, but this is just the shedding process. Exfoliate gently 5-7 days after your session to help with the shedding process.

7. Moisturize the Treated Area:

Apply a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to keep the skin hydrated. Avoid products with fragrances or alcohol, as these can irritate the skin.

8. Follow-up Treatments:

Laser hair removal requires multiple sessions for the best results. Be sure to schedule your next appointment within the recommended time frame (4-6 weeks).

Cancellation Policy

At Dermacure of Valencia, we value your time and appreciate your trust in our services. To ensure the best experience for all our clients, we kindly request at least 24 hours' notice for any appointment cancellations or rescheduling. If you cancel within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment or fail to attend, a $100 fee will be charged to the card on file. Should your appointment be canceled within this time frame, we will gladly apply the $100 fee as a credit toward your next service. Please note that this policy does not apply if you fail to attend without prior notice.
Is Dermacure a Medspa?

No. DermaCure is a medical office offering cosmetic treatments and lasers under the direct supervision of Dr. Craig Ingber, a board certified facial plastic surgeon. No spa services are offered by our staff, although the office does provide a soothing spa-like atmosphere.
I have some moles that I would like to have checked. Does Dr. Ingber check them?

Dr. Ingber is a facial plastic Surgeon, not a Dermatologist. We do not have the equipment needed to take samples and biopsy questionable moles. We do not perform skin cancer screenings or mole removals. We can provide you with the recommendation of a local Dermatologist if needed.
